Heavy over night rain saw the 1st XI's game at Wilmslow called off. 2nd XI convincingly beat Cheadle Hulme 3rd XI on a blustery day in Langley

Heavy over night rain saw the 1st XI's game at Wilmslow called off early on Saturday morning.
The 2nd XI were luckier as early rain turned in to a dry but breezy day up at Cockhall Lane. Skipper Tim Wilkinson-Hall won the toss and decided to bowl. Love and Anderson opened the bowling and the former struggled against some aggressive batting from Cheadle Hulme openers Mumtaz 20, and Gorman 13. Anderson then took the wickets of both players in quick succession.
Wilkinson-Hall then introduced himself and veteran Si Patterson in to the attack who quickly turned the game in Langleys favour, 5 wickets in as many over saw Cheadle Hulme struggling on 63-7. Tim Wilkinson-Hall taking his 100th wicket for the club in the process.
Some late inning resistance from Afzal 50* and Khan 19 saw Cheadle Hulme finish their 40 overs on 142-8. Wilkinson-hall 3-21, Patterson 2-14, Anderson 2-25 and Boon Jr 1-16 took the wickets.
In reply Langley got off to a terrible start losing opener Roberts and number 3 Bowden for ducks leaving Langley on 1-2. Hughes joined Boon Sr at the crease and together they rebuilt the innings batting patiently but punishing anything loose from the Cheadle Hulme bowlers. Both batsmen reached their 50s and finished the game off in the 25th over, Hughes finishing on 73* and Boon Sr 58*.

The 1st XI host Cheadle Hulme at Cockhall Lane on Saturday whilst the 2nd XI make the trip to Brooklands.
